Collaborative Engineering
gemeinsames Bearbeiten einer Aufgabe durch verteilte Akteure bezeichnet. Es ist eine Form der unternehmensübergreifenden integrierten Zusammenarbeit über den gesamten  Lebenszyklus eines Produktes oder einer Technologie, wobei der Schwerpunkt der Aktivitäten im Bereich der Produktentwicklung liegt. C.E. zielt auf die gemeinsame Erarbeitung technologischer beziehungsweise wettbewerblicher Vorteile, die durch einzelne Akteure allein nicht erreichbar wären. Die Realisierung von C.E. bedingt u.a. intensive Kommunikation zwischen den Partnern und geeignete Organisationsformen zur Steuerung überbetrieblicher Arbeitsgruppen. Informationstechnische Konzepte wie das Internet und begleitende personalwirtschaftliche Aktivitäten wie Coaching können ergänzend zum Ansatz gebracht werden, um die Effektivität des C.-E.-Prozesses zu erhöhen.
